BRAZILIAN PROJECT

Samba and Bossa Nova from Rio, country dance music from the Northeast of Brazil and Jazz from Sao Paulo. Brazilian jazz is also about beautiful, flowing harmony and memorable melodies. We play the music of great Brazilian composers – and some of our songs too. It’s Samba, Bossa Nova, Samba-Funk, Baiao, Forro, Frevo, Choro, Mojo and beats we don’t have names for!!

Catia Machado and BEBE is a sextet consisting of talented musicians with roots in Brazil, New York, and the East Bay. Catia began her music studies in Rio de Janeiro at the age of 10 and has performed widely in South, Central and North America. Trained as a music therapist, she promotes healing through music. Beyond Bossa Nova they play danceable, sophisticated Brazilian Jazz...a whole range of Brazilian Music from romantic to funky.

Saxophonist Bryan Girard returns to Rigger's with his acoustic jazz trio. With Keith Saunders on piano and Robb Fisher on bass, the group performs a variety of seldom-played gems from the jazz canon, including some gorgeous Brazilian songs as well as an occasional funky blues.
